Flexitank Loading & Unloading Guide for Bulk Edible Oil

You protect oil quality and avoid costly delays by following clear loading and unloading procedures. This guide covers the checks and steps for Flexitank shipments of 20–24 MT, from container selection to discharge at destination.

Before Loading

Use a clean, food-grade 20 ft container in good structural condition.

Inspect the Flexitank liner for any damage before filling.

Confirm the oil meets the contracted FFA ≤0.1%, peroxide value ≤1.0 meq/kg and moisture limits. See how to read a Certificate of Analysis before shipment.

Record the lot number and match it with the COA.

During Loading

Fill under controlled conditions to minimise air incorporation and oxidation.

Do not overfill; leave the recommended headspace.

Secure the Flexitank properly inside the container to prevent shifting during ocean transit.

At Destination – Unloading

Ensure the receiving facility has suitable pump-out equipment.

Check the seal and liner integrity before discharge.

Take a retain sample if required by your quality protocol.

Clean and dispose of the used Flexitank according to local regulations.

When Flexitank Is the Right Choice

Full-Container Volume

20–24 MT per 20 ft container for large, single-grade orders.

Discharge Capability

Destination has bulk discharge and pump-out infrastructure.

Cost Priority

Lowest cost per tonne is the primary objective.

For medium volumes or limited pump-out infrastructure, IBC 1000 L remains a practical alternative. Compare the options in our Flexitank vs IBC vs Drums guide, and see all bulk edible oil supply options.

You define the volume and destination constraints; we match the packaging format and keep the oil specification consistent.
