Oil Extraction Methods

The first step in edible oil production is extracting oil from oilseeds. There are two primary methods, each suited to different types of seeds and product requirements.

Mechanical Pressing

Cold Press & Hot Press

Solvent Extraction

The Complete Refining Process

After extraction, crude oil undergoes a four-stage refining process to remove impurities, improve stability, and produce a clean, safe cooking oil suitable for food applications.

Degumming

Phospholipid Separation

Crude oil contains phospholipids, gums, and other colloidal substances that must be removed before further processing. In the degumming stage, the crude oil is mixed with warm water or acid (such as phosphoric acid), which causes the gums to hydrate and clump together. These hydrated gums are then separated by centrifugation.

Deacidification

Neutralization Process
